About

I see the world as a dance floor.

I see the face’s of influence in the flashing lights. I hear the advertisements and the scandals booming through the speakers. We parade around the room holding cocktails, seductive as the apps on our phones, we have no choice but to become drunkenly enchanted.

However in this plastic galavant, we are isolated.

The world is a dance floor but we forgot how to dance with each other.

UNSPECIAL was created to re-align what it means to be connected. To be UNSPECIAL means to expose yourself in all facets. To be UNSPECIAL is to see and be seen in daylight, to hear and be heard in silence.

UNSPECIAL is a space dedicated to creating multi-disciplinary art that is blunt, vulnerable and undeniably human.

We’re all doing a jig but it doesn’t mean anything if we do it alone.

UNSPECIAL was created by Toronto based artist, Grace Lamarche. With her roots in theatre performance, Lamarche’s creative curiosity has lead her to creating visceral and absurdist work. Her goal with UNSPECIAL is to have platform focused on creative exploration and pushing boundaries that are include but are not limited to the theatric stage. Lamarche is a recent graduate of George Brown Theatre School where she studied theatre performance and is currently studying Dramaturgy at The University of Toronto.
